Keeping it local

LOCAL provider of managed communication services dbfb are demonstrating their commitment to providing Northampton enterprises with the tools to grow, with an impending FullFibre upgrade to the St James Industrial Estate and surrounding areas.

Organisations such as Cosworth Racing, Northampton Saints, Northampton Town FC & Scott Fowler Solicitors are all soon to be able to access internet speeds of up to 1000mbps. The total cost to extend City Fibre’s gigabit speed service from the nearest duct right to the premises of each organisation is costing in the region of £250,000. The proposal to the St James Community meant that if enough businesses supported the project, the cost would be covered by dbfb and CityFibre. dbfb have then further demonstrated their commitment to supporting local businesses through partnering with Ashmac Construction to deliver this exciting upgrade.

Ashmac construction are well-known in Northamptonshire for delivering high quality and reliable construction services. Ashmac will be providing dbfb with bespoke civils work in St James, to help revolutionise the areas connectivity. This partnership coincides with dbfb’s ethos of investing heavily back into the local community, while providing a service that will enrich and enable how the local business community runs.

Simon Pickering, Managing Director of dbfb said: “We are thrilled to be working with Ashmac Construction as we transform Northampton’s Infrastructure. Our core strategy is based around growth in the local area. So having Ashmac, a local construction company, on board to help us deliver our vision, is something extremely valuable to us. We are heavily invested in Northampton and it is important to us that not only will local businesses soon be able to benefit from ultra-fast speeds, but that we are also reinvesting money back into our local business community.”

As ultra-fast communities are building momentum and interconnecting in the UK, statistics are showing accelerated positive change in these local communities; Enhanced healthcare options, Superior education, Heightened online security, Increased employment, Positive social impact and a positive impact on the environment. With companies of all sizes embracing FullFibre in St James; Northampton Saints Rugby and Northampton Town football club being examples of businesses who need this connectivity as a matter of here and now, yet also smaller businesses who are getting ready for the inevitable future, while making a dramatic change to their current operations.

Greg Emonds, Managing Director of Ashmac Construction said: “We’re excited to be involved in a project that is set to revolutionise the way businesses in Northampton and specifically St James can operate. As a company that has been established for 21 years, based in St James, it has been increasingly visible that the connectivity in the area is in need of a boost. We’re excited to have an ultra-fast connection ourselves at Ashmac and we’re eager to see the difference it makes to our operations.”

Northampton is named one of the best places in the UK to start and grow a new business, only second to London! dbfb are proud to be a Northampton ‘born and bred’ business and would welcome any local businesses to have a chat around business telecommunications

Look at how far the town has come in the past few years without fit for purpose infrastructure, then think where it could be should the whole business community of Northampton pull together to embrace the gigabit revolution. Maybe we could be the UK’s next smart city?
