Join the network for people who are passionate about learning

ARE you passionate about learning? Why not make 2018 the year you network locally, with others who share the same passion?

Kay Buckby, Facilitator at The Development Company Limited, set up the Trainers Network Northamptonshire (TNN) in 2010. The aim is to enable local Learning & Development (L&D) people to network, share, and learn from each other.

The TNN meets on a quarterly basis, in different locations across the county. In 2018 it will meet at Mercure Court Hotel in Daventry (22 June), and Highgate House in Creaton (28 September). The spring event is 16 March at Northamptonshire County Golf Club.

Kay said: “We network informally, with no elevator pitch, or pushy introductions. Just be yourself – people buy from people they like. Members won over 110 days work in 2017, so our relaxed format does work. Members like the pay-as-you-attend format, as it means it is cost effective, and works around your diary.

“The TNN is a not-for-profit group, which keeps costs for each meeting to a minimum – basically, we charge what the venues charge. We donated £480 for Macmillan nursing from our September event, as Scott Bader kindly chose not to charge us the venue fee.

“We are always looking for people to run sessions, share what they know, run a discussion group. It’s a great way of raising your profile.

“Many of our members are trainers, coaches, facilitators, consultants, but you don’t have to work in L&D. We have members who work in marketing, administration and PR. Events are open for anyone who is passionate about learning.”

The TNN was named Runner-Up in the Networking Group of the Year 2017 Award in the recent SME Northamptonshire Business Awards – at the first time of entering.

Events run on a Friday morning, starting with breakfast at 8.30am, sessions from 9am to 12.30pm and ending with a networking lunch. The 16 March event is £30 including VAT.
