MANUFACTURING expertly engineered products using industrial foam and rubber materials ensures Technical Foam Services is earning a global reputation for its skills and innovative approach.

Their experienced team are able to design and manufacture bespoke foam based products, to meet the needs of blue-chip clients with high demands and expectations.

From its base on Corby’s Earlstrees Industrial Estate, the expertise within the company has helped the turnover grow to £3.5 million turnover during 2014, across a global customer base.

Joint Managing Directors Hamer Francis and Duncan Geddes, have between them notched up nearly 50 years’ experience in the industry. Nine years ago they took over Technical Foam Services and have relished the challenge to grow the independent, privately owned business.

Duncan said: “We really are different from other companies who handle foam and rubber materials. We are first and foremost an engineering company, specialising in the conversion of polyurethane and polyethylene foams, along with neoprene and EPDM rubbers, a range of materials that is so diverse that it is unique in our industry. We are able to design, and then create products made in these materials to a very high specification. We have our own engineering workshop, which can build bespoke machinery and tooling”.

This positive and vibrant approach, means clients regularly work on long-term projects with Technical Foam Services to design, develop and manufacture bespoke products to meet their particular application.

Duncan said: “Often, a client will come to us not knowing what they really need, but knowing something foam or rubber based needs to be developed to do a job. In the automotive industry this could be a foam polishing pad, or an air and dust filter for a racing car. Medical companies turn to us for foam wound dressings, and other niche products. Hydrophilic and hydrophobic foam products are supplied into the beauty and retail sectors, rubber and PU seals and gaskets for the aerospace industry are also within our portfolio.

“In the nine years that we have owned the company, we have become far more diverse, enabling us to make the most of our engineering expertise and personal knowledge of global specialist raw material manufacturers. 90 per cent of our base materials are imported, and 25 per cent of our sales are now exported – primarily to Europe and also the Middle East.

“We expect this growth to continue, based on us retaining the same philosophy of working with first-class clients, and producing quality technical products.”

A very loyal and hard-working workforce, currently 30 strong, is testament to the company’s calm and professional approach.

There is a real family atmosphere within the company.

Duncan said: “We have always had the approach of working with customers long-term, and our team is driven to not only look after long-established customers but also to make the most of the new opportunities we are presented with. Our clients enjoy working with us, and they feel confident when they do business with us.”
