TREDFLEX, the shoe firm based near Kettering, is sponsoring Shaun Sannerude, who is running this year’s London Marathon in aid of the Meningitis Research Foundation.

The marathon bid is the latest in a long line of charity challenges for Shaun, who completed the Machu Picchu trail in 2012 and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in 2014 in aid of the children’s cancer charity the NC TLC Trust.

Shaun chose to support the Meningitis Research Trust because he suffered bacterial meningitis at eight months old which left him deaf in one ear.

He said: “I was lucky, I still had my life and could go on to lead a normal life, some people are not so lucky. The challenge is a chance for me to give something back to a charity that does incredible and important research to help save lives.”

Lindsey Robertson, of TredFlex, said: “We are sponsoring Shaun for several reasons. It’s a great cause and it’s also supporting a local individual who is contributing positively to his community, and as a local company, that is important to us.”

TredFlex will be starting a bi-weekly video blog of Shaun’s challenge and updating his progress via social media.

Anyone who would like to donate can do so through Shaun’s JustGiving page www.justgiving.com/Shaun-Sannerude or via TredFlex on 01536 791227
