Doing things differently

INDEPENDENT energy consultants SK Energy take pride in doing things differently from their competitors.

Clients will not be bombarded with call after call or tied in to expensive contracts but will benefit from the team’s in-depth knowledge of the energy market and its relationships with more than 30 suppliers of gas, electricity and water.

This commitment means that in just one year the consultants have been recognised by their peers in two county awards. It was the runner-up in the Best New Business category at the SME Northamptonshire Business Awards and won the Service Business of the Year award at the Wellingborough Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.

The recognition is testament to the refreshing approach of the committed team headed up by managing consultant Reemesh Patel. He used his expertise working in the competitive sector to go it alone and, after a few short months, had the confidence to move to offices central to Wellingborough.

Clients range from sole traders to large multi-site organisations including household names.

Reemesh said: “The team want to help all businesses no matter the size and help impart knowledge and advice in an often complex market. We are passionate about our service and want to get our clients the best solutions available to them in the market.”

The first step for each client is to have a no-pressure, no-obligation check to assess the options and see where improvements can be made. Many go on to work with SK Energy but clients who want to go it alone can still get reassurance from the specialist team without any hard sales tactics or false promises.

“Price is always an important factor but there are so many other factors that need to be considered,” added Reemesh. “We have relationships with over 30 different suppliers along with some on an exclusive basis that are not available through other providers or directly. We know what tariffs and suppliers will suit each client. We believe we can offer the best deals but if a customer finds a supplier we can’t match then it makes sense for them to deal direct.”

Jason Patel, Head of Business Development, added: “What might be good value for one customer may not be the same for another with different operational hours or requirements, that’s why we offer a tailored service. We don’t pressurise people in to signing a contract.”

The service continues long after a contract is signed with SK Energy able to investigate issues and get problems resolved on behalf of clients and contracts regularly reviewed, with dedicated account management is provided to each and every account.

“Many people who come to us in the first place recognise it will save their business not only money but time. They can focus on their business and feel confident that that they are getting the best energy deal.

“We also have some very exciting developments in the pipeline to further help our clients reduce business utility costs, watch this space…”

THE charity Niamh’s Next Step, close to the hearts of the team at SK Energy, was set up in memory of five-year-old Niamh Curry who died in 2012 after an 18-month battle with the childhood cancer, neuroblastoma. The money raised helps to fund vital research into neuroblastoma which is not currently funded by the NHS or UK Government.

Ongoing fundraising at SK Energy includes a £10 donation each time a client switches to a provider recommended by the company.
