CITYFIBRE and its Northampton launch partner dbfb have announced that the first businesses are now connected to the Gigabit City networks and receiving some of the fastest internet services available. The partnership between CityFibre and dbfb has created a powerful alternative digital infrastructure for the city which can help businesses compete on a global scale.
CityFibre launched the network and the state-of-the-art services with dbfb in September, and the first of the city’s businesses are already enjoying internet speeds up to 100 times faster than the UK average with download and upload speeds of up to one gigabit per second. Practising what they preach, dbfb were the first business in Northampton to take advantage of gigabit connectivity and have already seen dramatic changes from their previous internet speed.
Northampton was named the best place for business start-ups outside London in the Centre for Cities’ report Cities Outlook 2016, and these companies will now have access to some of the most advanced internet connectivity in the country. This gigabit connectivity will allow businesses to future-proof themselves as their demand for bandwidth increases, seamlessly integrating a new generation of powerful cloud services, and having a huge technological advantage.
