THIS year’s biggest and best Medieval Festival will transport Wellingborough back to the Middle Ages with knights on horseback, ferret racing and magic shows set to create an action-packed weekend.
A collection of colourful characters, including an executioner, a barber surgeon and a jester can to be found at this year’s festival on Saturday 17 June and Sunday 18 June.
Knights in armour will be drawn up with their horses on the Tithe Barn lawn and re-enactors setting up camp in Croyland Gardens for the whole weekend will be on hand to answer any period questions.
Youngsters will have the opportunity to dress-up in medieval costume and joust on hobby horses at Wellingborough Museum and there will be medieval dancing for all.
John Cable, Executive Director of the Wellingborough Business Improvement District (BID) said: “2017 marks the fifth year of the Medieval Festival in Wellingborough!
“We invite everyone to step back in time and enjoy being entertained at the festival, which is back with bigger and better acts and more fun for all.
“This is a very authentic event with a wide range of period entertainment and the perfect blend of fun and learning for the whole family.”
Medieval music will fill the air whilst a falconry display, and the chance to learn new skills at a Circus Workshop will help to entertain the young and old.
A Medieval Fayre will take place at All Hallows Church on Saturday with refreshments on offer in the church hall. The medieval church will also hold a grand Medieval Service on Sunday.
