Angels Day Nursery in Kettering welcomed two special guests yesterday as the Mayor and Mayoress of the town cut the ribbon on a brand new outdoor playground.

The playground, which has been created in conjunction with a market-leading landscape gardening company, will be used by children aged two to four and includes a trike bike track, a log climber and a large shaded sand pit with a pulley and bucket system. Planter beds to encourage gardening, water play equipment and a ‘welly shed’ have also been incorporated.

As well as cutting the ribbon on the new playground, the Mayor and Mayoress were also treated to a tour of the nursery and an afternoon tea prepared by Chris Neal, the nursery chef. The Mayor also built sandcastles with the children at the new sand pit!

Simeon Singer, owner of Angels Day Nursery, said of the event: “We were delighted to welcome the Mayor to our nursery to open the fabulous new playground and showcase the rest of our wonderful facilities.

“We put a lot of thought into the new playground and will take great pleasure from seeing the children use it to develop their physical and social skills and, generally, just have fun!”
The Mayor of the Borough of Kettering, Councillor Scott Edwards, added: “Myself and the Mayoress were honoured to be given the opportunity to officially open the new outdoor play space at Angels Day Nursery. The facilities, inside and out, are wonderful and a real asset to the town of Kettering.”

Angels Day Nursery, which caters for children between the ages of 0-4, has recently been inspected by Ofsted and retained it’s ‘Outstanding’ rating for the third consecutive time. The nursery is inviting the local community to visit and take part in a guided ‘show around’ of the facilities.
