Proven track record of exam success

QUINTON House School has a proven track record of excellent GCSE results, reinforced by August’s GCSE results day when pupils from the school celebrated impressive Maths results with 7.5 per cent of pupils achieving the new top grade 9, compared to the national average of 3.5 per cent. 79 per cent achieved a strong pass at grade 5+ in English and Maths.

Once again, Quinton House School pupils outperformed the national average of 67.4 per cent A*-C grades, achieving 83.9 per cent A*-C grades in all subjects excluding Maths and English.

Ella Milner particularly excelled this year, gaining six A*s, one A, as well as a grade 7 in English Literature, grade 8 in English Language and grade 9 in Maths. Ella achieved an impressive maximum points in Chemistry and Physics. In addition she achieved a grade A in Additional Maths, equivalent to an AS Level.

Other pupils who celebrated an impressive suite of results in August were Holly Winterburn, Luke Hiorns-Boddington, Isabel Heath, Elizabeth Slater and Tom Hughes. Both Holly and Tom’s achievements are all the more impressive considering their sport training commitments, Holly being an England basketball player and Tom competing at elite level in the triathlon.

The 2017 GCSE results build on the excellent results seen in previous years. This year, just over a third of grades were at A*-A or equivalent.

Headteacher, Tim Hoyle, said: “As the new Headmaster at Quinton House School, I am delighted to see that so many Year 11 students performed so well in their GCSE examinations. It was a great pleasure for all staff to see so many students exceeding their target grades at all levels and achieving results above their own expectations. There were clearly some notable individual and subject performances.

“Equally, the focus of a Quinton House education is on each individual student working to their full potential and benefiting from the wide range of enrichment opportunities provided. The collective efforts of students, parents and staff clearly produced some impressive results across the cohort.”
