THE confidence to make the most of opportunities has enabled precision engineers Turnell & Odell to grow its list of clients working with internationally recognised countries.

The Wellingborough-based company, which has more than 100 years of experience in the machining of precision engineering components, has an ongoing commitment to invest in machinery, people and training.

This strategy has won support from the Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership, NEP. The agency recently awarded one of its High Performance Technology grants to enable Turnell & Odell to secure yet another major contract. The grants support businesses across Northamptonshire and the East Midlands to undertake innovative large-scale development and activity which will generate additional jobs.

The grant is the latest success for the thriving plant in Sanders Road on the Finedon Road Industrial Estate. In 2014 the company made a major investment in its manufacturing software, IT systems and machinery including the acquisition of new CNC lathes with live tooling.

Managing Director Clive Odell said: “The grant from NEP was very much appreciated. Each year we endeavour to invest and consolidate and this grant has given us the chance to take on fresh opportunities.”

The company is proud of the 40-strong workforce who play a key role in enabling the firm to work in a wide range of sectors including aerospace, motorsports, renewable and nuclear to name but a few. Parts created in the workshop have been used by internationally renowned clients with interests in Europe, China, South America and Australia.

Clive said: “We work in a highly competitive market and I feel very proud that a company based in Wellingborough has such a fantastic portfolio. We believe through investing not only in machinery but also people and training that we can continue to respond to requests and produce parts to the highest specification.

“Our clients work with companies across the world and it is fantastic that they want to work with companies like ourselves in Northamptonshire. This is a great place for engineering and the support we have from the NEP is helping us to continue to develop.”
