New trio unveiled

A NEW trio is heading up Brackmills as the estate’s status as a Business Improvement District (BID) continues to make headlines across the UK.

Former BID Chair Sara Homer has been appointed CEO of Brackmills BID, while Howard Wilson from Brackmills-based Startech.com is now the Chair, with Charlotte Patrick from The University of Northampton now the Deputy Chair.

This restructure comes just a few months after businesses voted Yes to BID status, meaning Brackmills is now the largest industrial and business estate in Europe to have retained its status as a Business Improvement District (BID) for a third term.

Howard, who has been a voluntary director on the BID board for more than four years, said: “These are exciting times. We have secured more than £2m for the next five years and are determined to involve all our businesses, as well as the thousands of employees on the estate, in our future plans.

“As well as focusing on infrastructure, crime prevention, the environment and business growth we are planning to introduce a calendar of business, training, charity and sporting events.

“We also want to set up new working groups to help as many people as possible to get involved. So, if you work on Brackmills and are interested in events and PR you may want to volunteer for our communications group. We are looking to have a health and safety group and a working group that will focus on the environment and of course we have our committed group of Brackmills voluntary board directors.”

New CEO Sara Homer added: “Charity will also be a focus. Many businesses and employees are raising money for local causes and we want to gather this news, share it via the Brackmills business community and together support the local community and raise valuable funds for the charitable sector.”

Charlotte Patrick said: “Brackmills is bursting with hard-working businesses, innovation, expanding companies, start-ups, new technology and so much more. Brackmills is a community so the BID is here to support everyone, to improve the estate and to help staff. We are now planning to run a forklift drivers’ competition and will be encouraging people to enter next year’s Northants Logistics Awards.”

Next up for Brackmills its Annual General Meeting, set to take place on Tuesday 24 September. All Brackmills employees are invited to attend. Simply let the BID know by RSVPing for this free event by Friday 20th September at
