The word ‘voujon’ is from the ancient Bangla language and means ‘invitation to dine’. People who take up the invitation are not disappointed with a restaurant that oozes contemporary style and delivers mouthwatering dishes time after time.
The starters, all served with mixed salads and chutney, range from favourites like onion bhajee, samosa or sheek kebab to tandoori chicken or prawn bhuna on puree. Panch mishali for two or four people offers a selection including chicken and lamb tikka, chicken cake, sheek kebab and lall mass or there are tender lamb chops roasted in the tandoori oven or tikka duck or salmon.
Tandoori specialities range from king prawn to chicken, lamb chops, duck and shaslick which is tender diced chicken or lamb.
A mouthwatering Voujon mixed masala, one of the chef signature dishes, is barbecued chicken, lamb and king prawns in a special exotic mild sauce with fresh cream and butter.
Other chef specialities include Shahee King Prawn Bhuna which see whole grilled king prawns cooked in garlic, tomatoes, onions and fresh ground spices. Darjeeling delight is chicken or lamb cooked with onions, peppers, tomatoes and coriander while Voujon Special Rogan combines barbecued chicken and lamb cooked with medium spices in a thick sauce.
Vegetarians have an extensive choice to select from including Sambhar, a south Indian dish of vegetables with lentils, or lightly-spiced Chana Massala, which has chick peas cooked with onions, tomatoes. Mushrooms cooked with spices, herbs and garlic make up Chatri.
