Now the team at The Griffin have devised a Christmas menu that will tempt festive diners from far and wide.

Served from 30 November to 24 December, the menu includes a choice of starters including pan fried fillet of red mullet with spiced red apple and red onion cous cous and French onion soup with Gruyere cheese. Listed among the main courses are traditional turkey, shank of lamb with creamed mash and sun-blazed tomato and roasted Mediterranean vegetable risotto.

Desserts include Black Forest gateau cheesecake and mille feuille with fresh strawberries and Chantilly cream, topped with meringue.

Former Business Times restaurant reviewer Alan Spooner said: “I have dined here a few times recently and was most impressed with the food and exceptional service. My dish of lamb shank was among the best I’ve had, so tender and cooked to perfection.'”

Prices range from £22.50 for a two-course lunch from 30 November to 17 December, to £32 for a three-course dinner from 11 December to 24 December.

The restaurant is closed on Christmas Day but a carvery menu is available on Boxing Day and Sunday 27 December, and there’s a New Year’s Eve set dinner from £60 including dancing to DJ.
