TAKE time to add some spice to the Christmas festivities with a visit to Lasaan – Once Upon a Time in India, a restaurant offering Bangladeshi and Indian inspired food.
The team of expert chefs like to do things differently – a style which is celebrated in the wealth of accolades they are winning for the innovative dishes on offer at the contemporary-style restaurant at Whitehills Crescent, Kingsthorpe, Northampton. Parties of up to 40 are welcome and guests can take their own drinks to complement the freshly-made dishes.
In just four years the fresh approach has earned the restaurant an impressive reputation, including being awarded the 2015, 2016 and 2017 Certificate of Excellence from Tripadvisor; finalists in The English Curry Awards 2015, 2016 and 2017; and one of four restaurants representing Northampton in The Curry Capital of Britain 2015 and 2016 Guide.
Enam Haque and Jay Miah, the driving forces behind the restaurant’s success, said: “We believe in offering excellent food, an excellent atmosphere, excellent service and excellent value. We want to be known for offering something different.
“There may be restaurants with more seating capacity but with room for up to 40 customers means we can ensure the food remains fresh, the best service is offered and all of our guests receive the same attention.”
This attitude is reflected in the menu, which regularly includes chef’s specials which give diners an opportunity to taste some of the hidden secrets from Bangladesh and India. These include Sajon Special, shredded tandoori chicken fused with minced lamb, ginger, garlic and herbs and lamb anawaka, coated with a mix of mushrooms, green peppers, tomatoes and a touch of green chilli.
Traditional dishes are still available and growing demand for fish dishes means the selection is continuing to grow.
The restaurant is open seven days a week including Bank Holidays from 5pm to 11pm and on Sundays from 5.30pm to 10.30pm.
