Set for another record year

JUST a few weeks into 2016, Aspect Exhibitions have already produced and installed more than 25 per cent more exhibition stands compared to the same period last year, a total of 51 stands having been installed since the beginning of January.

With 2015 being a record year, with more than 200 stands installed, 2016 is looking like it will exceed even that amazing feat – marking the company’s 25th anniversary in style.

The firm’s humble beginnings can be traced back to proprietor Paul Gristwood’s home garage, eventually leading to the latest premises in Lodge Farm, which boast a sizeable and enviable production space, fully equipped with the latest panel processing and woodwork production machinery, including a large-format CNC Router, automatic edge banding and, the latest investment, a state-of- the-art, Striebig wall saw.

Another investment was the purchase and installation of a biomass heating system fully powered by the wood waste generated from the production of exhibition stands and displays.

This system is now fully functional and is taking care of the workshop and office heating needs. Paul Gristwood said: “As you would expect with a project and installation of this scale there have been a few teething problems, but now these have been ironed out the biomass system is performing brilliantly and has had a real and positive impact on the business. A substantial decision to make at the time but one I am not regretting.”

Commenting on their busy start to the year, senior project manager Robert Gristwood added: “The main reason for the increase in business this year was an increase in stands supplied and installed for both the Motorcycle Trade Expo at Stoneleigh and the Spring Fair at the NEC with 17 and 12 stands respectively. With a strong order book going forward and some very exciting enquires in the pipeline, 2016 is look extremely promising.”

To manage the steady surge of work, the production team has also had to expand, with the recent appointment of three additional skilled bench joiners.

David Quemby, who heads up the CNC department, said: “Our CNC router is running at full capacity and we are looking for people with CNC router experience that can help manage the volume of work.

We are also looking at taking on additional premises and investing in a large-format laser cutting machine to relieve some of the pressure.”

With a year ahead that promises to be the busiest ever, coupled with the potential investments in new machinery, Aspect Exhibitions cannot wait to see what the year ahead holds in store.
