WITH its authentic 1930s Art Deco styling, there are few places more exciting to visit, for business or pleasure, than The Aviator Hotel and its accompanying conference and function facilities.
The hotel itself, on the edge of the Sywell Aerodrome airfield, has 50 comfortable en-suite bedrooms as well as a busy bar and restaurant where delegates and visitors can wind down at the end of the day. For aviation enthusiasts, there’s also the museum, which is packed full of interesting artefacts.
Hangar One is adjacent to the Aviator Hotel and overlooks one of the finest World War II airfields in the country. Before being converted for use as a conference venue, the hangar was home to an organisation that maintained and sold helicopters. Work began in 2000 to renovate Hangar One and a large bar and kitchen were built into the southern gable end, and a passage to the east side connects the hangar to the Aviator Bar and Restaurant. Extensive air extraction, lighting and audio systems were installed and today the hangar is an ideal venue for product launches, conferences, training days, team building events and dinner dances, easily accommodating up to 500 people.
Hangar Two, meanwhile, seats 220 theatre-style and has been designed to facilitate business conference needs with its bespoke equipment including a stage with presenters desk for three or four people and inbuilt LCD screens and lectern.
The Cirrus Suite is a self-contained function suite that can accommodate up to 150 delegates in theatre style. Full blackout facilities are available for film or slide presentations. It also benefits from having its own dance floor, private reception area with cloakroom, own toilets and private bar.
Ideal for conferences, lectures and training courses, the Cockpit can accommodate up to 50 delegates theatre style, while the Briefing Room is excellent for conferences and lectures, seating up to 12 delegates in any meeting configuration and has its own reception area, which is ideal for registration and coffee breaks.
For smaller, more informal meetings, interviews or as a syndicate room, the Club Room is ideal. With excellent views of the airfield the room benefits from its own cloakroom and is suitable for up to 20 people.
