Tournament success secures Championship status

England Golf has granted Championship Venue status to Whittlebury Park Golf Course near Towcester.

The decision comes after the club hosted the England Golf Open Championship for Golfers with a Disability earlier this year.

The accreditation – which is permanent – means that Whittlebury Park will be in line to host future England Golf events.

England Golf’s deputy championship director Toby Thorne said Whittlebury Park had been chosen because of the quality of its course and facilities. “The effort put in by the entire team to ensure the Championship for Golfers with a Disability ran successfully was outstanding,” he added.

Leigh Denoven, head of golf at Whittlebury Park, said: “We are very proud to have achieved Championship Venue status, which would not have been possible without the incredible effort and dedication of our groundkeepers and golf teams as well as the entire hotel staff. ”
