ONE of the UK’s most creative portrait photographers is opening a new studio in Northampton from where he plans to capture in his inimitable style members of the arts, music, fashion and business worlds.
Lou Boileau, who is based in Northampton and has had several exhibitions across the UK of his work, is well-known for his atmospheric portraits of members of the British acting elite.

Lou Boileau, who is based in Northampton and has had several exhibitions across the UK of his work, is well-known for his atmospheric portraits of members of the British acting elite. Nine pieces of his work are in the National Portrait Gallery’s collection.
Last month, Lou opened his new Head Shots Studio in Kings House, Billing Road, where he offers, by appointment only, portrait photography sessions.
“A lot of my work is based in London, where I also have a studio, but I’m from Northampton and see no reason why I shouldn’t have a studio here,” he explained. “Not all my subjects are London-based and even those that are, sometimes find travelling up here quicker than getting to the other side of London.
“I have my own style and I know what I’m looking for in a photograph, but the studio is open to anyone who wants a portrait done, from actors, musicians and fashion to local businesspeople.
“Whereas once a boardroom might have an oil painting of a founder or chairman, today’s medium is photography and that’s my strength.”
Lou Boileau’s Head Shots studio package is a fixed-price shoot from which the subject will receive a set of contact prints from which to choose three images that will be retouched and printed at full size.
