Technology proves itself fit for purpose

ANOTHER year dawns and as you’re packing away the tinsel, discarded champagne corks and doing your best to avoid the mountain of chocolates left over from the festive period, it’s likely there’s one thing on your mind – time to get fit. Signing up for gym membership is often seen as the first step for many people heading into a new year. Experts believe 12 per cent of all gym memberships are taken up in January.

Unfortunately, after an average of six months, many will fail to keep up the habit. Northamptonshire-based Elite Personal Training (EPT) is aiming to knock this trend on the head. Realising that you need a little more than a few treadmills and rowing machines in order to keep members coming back for more, the Rushden gym has been filled with of state-of-the-art equipment. Treadmills with iPod docking stations, virtual cycling and an X Biking studio featuring a 60-inch plasma screen all sit proudly in the climate-controlled surroundings. Getting fit isn’t laborious at EPT – it’s fun and engaging. The team also offer a free expert health assessment to get new members going with a fitness program developed specifically for them. With such a technology-rich offering, EPT needed a website to match, as Brynne Roberts, explained: “We’ve got fantastic facilities in the gym and we wanted a website which got that across straightaway. We’re now living in a very health-conscious and fitness-led society, so we’re aware of the potential number of members out there scouring the web for the best offering.” EPT employed the services of Northampton-based web designers in.house.media to build the site and help capture those potential members. “It was a great project to work on,” said Gavin Hills, director at in.house.media. “EPT wanted a website which looked modern and inviting, just like their gyms. We therefore placed the emphasis on great imagery of the equipment and a focus on the free health assessment they offer, which is intended to encourage membership once delivered. It’s just about the best call-to-action a gym website can have.” EPT’s offering is expanding, too. Along with a GP referral scheme, Brynne is also looking to introduce discounted rates for corporate clients in order to raise awareness about the benefits of having fit and healthy staff. The team at EPT hope that, by combining the benefits of improved self esteem and self-motivation, businesses will benefit from a more productive and cost-effective workforce. “We want to help local businesses and their staff by highlighting the way in which gym memberships can help reduce sickness, injuries and the resulting time off work, ” explains Brynne. “Corporate Wellness and Fitness is our health service, which helps businesses and workers attain one of the greatest gifts of all: good health. Additionally, our GP referral scheme aims to reach out to inactive residents who could benefit from leading a more active lifestyle.” For more information on Elite Personal Training, visit www.eptuk.com Contact in.house.media on 01604 790007 to find out how it can help your business online.
