Award win for county scheme

CELEBRATIONS are under way at Prop-Search in Northampton as its clients scoop a coveted industry award at the Industrial Agents Society Awards 2017, for the Best Overall Scheme – Multi-let Industrial Estate.

Jeff Penman of Tungsten Properties and James Hillary of M&G Real Estate collected the Award for the development of Brackmills Trade Park in Northampton – at a gala luncheon held at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square – cheered on by their agents Richard Baker of Prop-Search and Avison Young.

The IAS Awards, now in their 30th year, remain widely recognised as the industry’s premier networking event; attended by the leading owners, occupiers, developers and funders of industrial and logistics real estate, as well as their agents.

Brackmills Trade Park was voted as Best Overall Scheme – Multi-Let Industrial Estate after impressing the industry panel of judges with its success; being 70 per cent let at practical completion to occupiers including Screwfix, Topps Tiles, Digraph Transport Supplies, Subway, Pizza Hut, Greggs, and Costa, and bringing much needed amenities to the Estate. The judges also considered that it had proven to be particularly successful in terms of design, maximising the developable space on the site as a result of its shape and constraints, and securing lettings post Brexit.

Prop-Search originally acquired the 3.5 acre site on Brackmills Industrial Estate on behalf of Tungsten Properties in 2016. Planning permission was quickly secured for the development of the 65,200 sq ft trade counter, retail and warehouse scheme and a funding agreement with M&G Real Estate secured to deliver the 14-unit development. Prop-Search and Avison Young were retained as letting agents.

Richard Baker, a Director of Prop-Search, said: “We are delighted that Brackmills Trade Park has been recognised as the winner of this coveted award. The scheme has been a massive success and this is demonstrated by the fact that we now only have two units remaining.”

“The scheme occupies a key location within an Estate that has been devoid of facilities to support its some 11,000 employees. Our confidence that we would quickly secure tenants was rewarded and demonstrates the strong demand from the trade counter sector for high quality developments in strong locations.”
