Boost to town centre

THE new Sainsbury’s store in Olney has been successfully completed, after starting on site in January of this year. GSSArchitecture were appointed as delivery architects and lead consultants for the new build retail store alongside main contractor, Parkway Construction MK Limited.

The new retail store provides a great boost to the town of Olney by providing residents with a convenient, local supermarket that means shoppers no longer have to head out of town in order to do their food shopping. This is expected to increase footfall in the town centre, as shoppers will no longer have to travel as far, and are more likely to make associated trips to the high street in order to pick up the rest of their requirements, rather than heading out of town.

Christopher Chapman, Partner at GSSArchitecture said: “As a Northamptonshire-based practice, with an office in central Milton Keynes, it is great to be able to work alongside contractors, Parkway Construction MK Limited, on a project that will have such a positive impact on the community. A high-quality, modern supermarket such as this will provide a great convenience for the local residents, and significant new employment opportunities within the town.”

The new 1,610 square metre store, which is set to open to the public later this year, is located in a prominent position off of the roundabout on Lavendon Road, acting as a gateway into Olney.
