Projects across the county

BUILDING Contractor Steele & Bray continue to work on a broad cross section of construction projects in and around the county.

In the education sector works have been completed on extensions and alterations to schools under NCC’s Construction Framework at Wollaston, Kings Sutton and West Haddon Primary Schools, as well as at Fairfield School in Northampton. Works were also completed for Montsaye Academy and Ousedale School whilst more recently a new £3.2m, 10 classroom and lecture theatre building has been constructed for Sir Christopher Hatton Academy in Wellingborough.

Works are ongoing for Uppingham School on a range of projects circa £1.2m to improve car parking facilities and the flow of staff and pupils around what is known as the Thring Axis. The company is also delighted to have been appointed by Uppingham Community College to undertake an expansion of their SEND facilities and to construct a new drama studio, which commenced on site in October.

The residential sector has also been busy with the recent completion of 16 five and six-bed homes in Luton, and Steele and Bray is currently on site constructing seven new homes for Waterloo Housing Group in Leicestershire. It has also been appointed by Greatwell Homes to undertake the construction of 12 new homes for rent in Wellingborough, which will commence on site later in the year.

In the health sector, works were completed for the Royal British Legion on their care home in Southam, and construction has now commenced on site at St Andrews Hospital on a £6.5m refurbishment of the Lowther Building to provide state-of-the-art dementia care facilities. Director Ian Chamberlain commented that it was particularly pleasing to secure this project as it was a consequence of a two-stage tender process where collaborative working and regular workshops were adopted in order to maximise all stakeholders’ expertise and knowledge in delivering the project, and as it is for a long standing local client and will provide valuable work for the company’s local supply chain and the local economy as a whole.

Steele & Bray’s experienced and expanding project teams continue to offer support and guidance to their clients in delivering on their plans and aspirations.
