Territory expands into new opportunities

AN innovative approach to doing business continues to bring new opportunities to Willowbrook Plant Services, which is now based on an expansive site at Rockingham Speedway.

In just under a decade the Corby-based business has grown its workforce to 30 and expanded its regions through creating partnerships with globally-recognised brands.

These include Hyundai Heavy Industries which has given the business the go-ahead from January 2018 to expand its territories to bring on board four expansive counties Lincolnshire, South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

The company have run the Midlands franchise since 2011 on behalf of the highly regarded South Korean manufacturer. The expansion plans are a welcome endorsement to the management team headed up by operations director Steven Corner. The company, founded in June 2008, was set up to repair all types of mobile plant and equipment in the building, quarry and waste industries.

Steve explained: “Shortly after we set up the recession hit. The business prospered mainly due to companies being unwilling to invest in the purchase of new equipment and opting to have their machinery repaired instead.”

A year later the business was awarded the Takeuchi franchise for the Midlands, a very high-quality Japanese-built machinery brand.

Ongoing success encouraged the team to add another franchise and go into the heavier machinery sector with Hyundai and five years later they added the franchise for Terex equipment, which has recently changed names to Mecalac, a Coventry-based brand with a huge name in the construction industry.

The move to Rockingham Speedway has given the business other opportunities including access to events and a meeting room in the venue’s grandstand. The new site includes a purpose-built demonstration/dig area to allow customers to get hands-on experience with the equipment.

The company takes pride in ‘growing their own’ specialists who can play an important role in the company’s operations. This includes apprentice engineers who won prestigious awards run by CITB, the industry’s training board.

Steve said: “We take pride in ensuring that our teams can offer a high quality, professional service and on-going training means we can ensure employees meet our expectations.”
