New impetus to town

AS the economy starts to grow again, a new business initiative is being launched later this month to support start-up, existing and relocating businesses in Corby.

Under the heading Growing Corby, the Corby Business Growth Programme has been brought together by Corby Borough Council and Electric Corby alongside a range of partners to deliver business support funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

Throughout 2014 and into 2015 businesses can access grant funding, market insight services, coaching to start-up and for growth, graduate internships and a host of other support to help grow their business.

Nick Bolton from Electric Corby said “This new Growing Corby initiative will provide direct and practical support for anyone looking to start, grow or relocate a business or social enterprise in Corby.

“Gaining a thorough insight into market opportunities for example can be hugely important but also challenging for small or growing businesses. Growing Corby can undertake research and develop reports on access to markets and provide dedicated staff to develop and help implement growth plans.

“We will also have a particular focus on supporting businesses to enhance creativity and innovations skills that improve productivity and growth potential, with grants available to help deliver agreed plans.

“The Growing Corby initiative will also bring added impetus to the areas work to attract new business to locate in Corby with dedicated support from Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership’s inward investment team.”

As well as NEP, Corby Borough Council and Electric Corby the partnership that will be delivering the Corby Business Growth Programme will include the University of Northampton, ANGLE plc and Enterprise Solutions Northamptonshire.

Nick added: “By bringing together the leading business support partners from across Northamptonshire into a joined up programme, we aim to make access to practical support as straightforward and effective as possible”
