Visit was an eye-opener

A LOCAL businesswoman’s visit to Spirit Hyundai in Northampton proved to be a real eye-opener.

Marketing director Hannah Southwell, who runs catering equipment supplier Noble Express Ltd in Earls Barton with husband Andrew, is now enjoying the benefits of driving an Ioniq Premium, Hyundai’s new hybrid/electric proposition.

She went ahead with the Ioniq after having had a change of heart following her visit to the Northampton dealership.

“I had never thought about a Hyundai but my sister was really pleased with her newly-leased Hyundai i30 so I thought we should take a look,” said Hannah, who wanted a car that was spacious but not over bearing.

Steve Robinson, Business & Fleet Sales Manager, at Spirit Hyundai, was happy to show the couple the i30 and the larger i40 estate but also suggested looking at the Ioniq Premium.

Hannah said: “When I heard it was a hybrid car I initially thought “oh no’, as I believed it would need constant plugging in to charge. I was surprised that wasn’t the case and the car would charge while it was driving.”

A recent round trip to Lancashire put the vehicle to the test and confirmed its fuel-saving claims.

Hannah said: “Usually, I would have to fill up for the return journey but in the Ioniq there was no need and we got home after using only three quarters of a tank of fuel which means we are saving money and it is better for the environment.”

Space is a priority for the family which includes Thomas, nine, and seven-month-old Henry.

“We needed a car which had enough room for the boys and items like the pushchair. Both Andrew and I are also tall so we wanted to make sure it was not only a comfortable drive but there was enough space if we wanted to sit with the boys in the back seat. We are really pleased with our decision.”

The Ioniq range is attracting interest from owners predominantly from the more established premium brands or those looking for an environmentally-friendly vehicle but appreciate the practicalities of a conventional hatchback.

Steve said: “People are often surprised at the Ioniq’s versatility, its competitive price options but moreover the quality and drive.”
