A motoring icon goes electric… and it’s yours for $1m

An electric Aston Martin DB6. Below: The ‘holy trinity’ of electrified Aston Martin, Rolls Royce and Bentley

If you have more than $1 million burning a hole in your pocket and would love to own a piece of British motoring heritage with a modern twist, read on.

Production is under way of an electric-powered version of a British motoring icon: the Aston Martin DB6. The new version – produced in very limited numbers for an exclusive clientele – is being built at the Silverstone headquarters of niche manufacturer Lunaz.

The DB6 joins the stable of a rapidly growing company that is already meeting significant worldwide demand with the world’s only electric Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Range Rover and Jaguar sportscar models. Highly limited build slots will be made available for Aston Martin DB4 and DB5 cars.

“The introduction of electric Aston Martin DB6 cars has been driven by sustained demand from our existing clients,” says Lunaz group founder and chief executive David Lorenz. “It also reflects the desires of an entirely new classic car buyer. These women and men have been drawn to Lunaz because for the first time they are presented with the powertrain and modern conveniences of today, clothed in a design that speaks of an era when aesthetic purity was the only requirement.”

The exact price of an electric DB6 remains confidential between Lunaz and the buyer but will exceed $1million plus local taxes. The first deliveries are scheduled for the third quarter of 2023.

The car will be powered by Lunaz’ own modular electric powertrain, developed entirely in-house. Each vehicle has upgraded brakes, suspension and steering while the interior includes air conditioning, the latest info-tainment, navigation systems and full wi-fi connectivity.

“The Aston Martin DB6 delivered on the promise of truly indulgent continental touring,” says Lunaz’s design director Jen Holloway. “This is a legacy we could not resist furthering by creating the most alluring electric car in the world.”

The new range follows an injection of growth capital from institutional investors including the Barclay, Reuben and Dallal families and former England and Manchester United football captain David Beckham. The models are being built at Lunaz’s headquarters on Silverstone Technology Park.

“The rapid growth of Lunaz reflects the growing role that remanufacturing and electrification plays in plotting a sustainable course to a clean-air powertrain future,” says Mr Lorenz. “By furthering the legacies of these beautiful Aston Martins, we create many more highly skilled jobs and expand our clean-technology production presence at our home in Silverstone.”

Lunaz is developing electric versions not only of classic and iconic cars but also of HGVs, beginning with recycling vehicles.
