Are you prepared for the apprenticeship levy?

A SURVEY carried out recently by City and Guilds revealed that a third of employers liable to pay the new apprenticeship levy when it comes into force in April are not even aware of it.

The new scheme will introduce an apprenticeship levy that will be collected from all employers with a pay bill in excess of £3m. The levy will be set at 0.5 per cent of the pay bill and there will be a £15,000 allowance. For example, an employer with a pay bill of £5m will need to pay a £10,000 levy.

Moulton College can guide employers through the new apprenticeship levy, explaining how and if it affects them, answering any questions and helping them understand how much you may have to pay and how these funds can be used.

Many employers are aware that apprenticeships can be a fantastic way of introducing a fresh prospective to a business and enhance the workforce.

However, not knowing how the process of employing an apprentice works can seem daunting, that is why Moulton have a dedicated team of apprenticeship advisors who are specialists within industry and have the experience and knowledge to guide employers through the entire process. The advisors will help to advertise and recruit for vacancies and will continue to be a regular point of contact throughout the apprenticeship to ensure the apprentice is making good progress. Moulton College can also develop bespoke programmes to meet employers’ requirements within the specialisms offered.

Moulton College hopes to set a standard for the future, helping businesses to grow at the same time as providing vital opportunities for young people looking to gain the crucial skills they need to break into their chosen industry. Moulton College aims to continue to build links with local employers to strengthen their workforces, recruiting fresh skilled talent can provide many benefits for business.

With the apprenticeship reform coming in to force in April there is no better time to recruit an apprentice, and there is still time to recruit an apprentice before the levy is introduced.
