House builder invests in local area

LATEST figures show homebuilder Barratt Homes Northampton has provided 1,800 jobs directly and through contractors and suppliers, including directly employing 10 new apprentices, trainees and graduates during the financial year.

The leading homebuilder has built 792 homes in its operational area during the past year and contributed over £110.6m to the UK’s economic output.

The achievements are highlighted in a new report which measures the homebuilder’s social and economic contribution to the area over the financial year 2016-2017.

The five star housebuilder covers Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire, Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire.

Included within the company’s socio-economic footprint are key figures relating to the company’s support for the housebuilding supply chain, local communities, environment, public services and employment. The figures also show the housebuilder:

* Supported 330 subcontractor companies and 380 supplier companies.

* Planted or retained 24,790 trees or shrubs on its developments.

* Spent £30.8m on local contributions including affordable housing sales and s106 contributions.

* and used components in the construction process that were manufactured in the UK 90 per cent of the time.

The report on Barratt Homes’ Socio-Economic Footprint in 2017 was carried out by planning consultant, Nathaniel Lichfield & Partners (NLP).
