Investing in the future

WHEN technology is developing at a fast pace, introducing new blood to a business is key.

Young trainees and apprentices often have much to offer, learning their trade from experienced colleagues while at the same time bringing a new, fresh approach to innovation.

At Kwiklite, the Brixworth-based LED lighting system specialist, apprenticeships play an important part in the development of the company.

Graham Parr, who founded the company 10 years ago, said: “Young people are keen to learn and quick to pick up new technologies and adapt to products that are continually developing.

“This new generation of lighting engineers understand and are very interested in new LED systems and innovative lighting solutions. They are the future of the business.”

Daniel Black joined Kwiklite last year and has found that his approach to work has been transformed by his time there.

“The staff at Kwiklite have not only taught me so much about how to become a great electrician but also how to be efficient, how to fend for myself and gave me a massive boost in confidence,” he said.

“The Kwiklite team really do care about their employees and customers, which makes me highly respect them and look up to them. The electricians I work with are also extremely supportive and have shown me so much more in four months then I ever learnt in two years of college.”

His colleague Adam Kilby, who has been an apprentice with Kwiklite since last summer, added: “It’s good being an apprentice at Kwiklite because you learn on the job and you learn a great deal from the people you are with. All of the other workers are extremely polite and treat you well, there always willing to help and to teach you and help you to gain the knowledge and skills you need to become an electrician.”

Kwiklite specialises in LED lighting, offering a service that will assess and design lighting systems as well as installing and maintaining them – providing advice at the outset that will help achieve a more effective outcome. Over the years, the company has developed into a source of skills, advice and products that improve customers’ working environment while paying for themselves through energy savings.
