Your chance to have a go

PROSPECTIVE students and their parents will be given the chance to have-a-go at Skills Fest 2017 – an open event showcasing the courses on offer at Northampton College.

A range of hands-on workshops, featuring everything from beauty tips and cupcake design to fixing cars and animating video games, will be available during the event on Saturday, 11 March.

The workshops will give anyone interested in studying at Northampton College the opportunity to find out more about specific courses, meet the teachers and familiarise themselves with the facilities. Parents will also have the chance to come along and learn more about all aspects of college life.

Principal Pat Brennan-Barrett said: “Deciding what you want to do after leaving school can be tough. It’s vital that we give people all the information they need to make a fully informed decision.

“With Skills Fest, students and their parents can come along and try their hand at a whole range of different workshops to get a glimpse of what life would be like with us. It gives them the chance to see for themselves what suits them best and helps prepare them for their future.

“We want people to come along and have a go. By giving something a try you can get a good idea of whether or not it’s for you. Hopefully plenty of people will fall in love with a course that can set them up for a lifetime.”

It is the second year the college has held Skills Fest and among the new sessions brought in for this year are a live radio show broadcast and an interactive A Level workshop examining Donald Trump’s presidency in America.
