SPECTRUM Powder Coaters have been in Daventry for 40 years this coming year.
Twenty-five years ago, Chris Shannon took on the General Manager’s role and five years ago became Managing Director.
The company was originally established by Malcolm Randal and was known as Arand Industrial Finishing. The company supplied quality metal finishing services to the local area for many years as well as further afield building up an enviable reputation for quality and turnaround as well as value for money.
When Chris became MD he took on the company from the owners and decided to change the name and logo and Spectrum was born.
Chris said: “I felt the time was right to re-name the company along with a fresh logo as the old name didn’t really explain our service. It was an anagram of the original owner’s name and I believe you should never be afraid of looking inwards and see if any improvements can be made.
“It was a little scary, but customer comments were all positive so overall it was a great decision.”
This fresh new look and approach has meant that Spectrum is enjoying growth in a fairly stagnant market.
The last year has seen substantial investment in the latest technology which has improved both quality and made substantial savings on materials. Another milestone was reached last year when they were awarded ISO 9001:2015 quality certification.
Chris concluded: “Wow, after a busy year in 2019 I feel this year is also going to be an exciting one – I can’t wait to see what it brings!”
