SPECIALISTS with a passion for cricket and the technical know-how make a real difference to the customers who turn to the team at Robert Pack Cricket (RPC).
RPC founder, Rob Pack has extensive experience in this specialist sector from manufacturing right through to working with household names like Kookaburra, Puma, Alfred Readers and, currently, Blueroom.
All the showroom staff are cricketers, some are coaches and others have up-to-date knowledge about bat making with national specialists.
Rob, who is a familiar name in Northamptonshire cricket circles, is the resident master bat maker on site and works with each customer to ensure the equipment meets their specific needs.
“It is important we take the time to get to know each customer, how they like to play and what is expected from the bat,” said Rob, who is proud that his award-winning work is appreciated by clients including international players, committed club players and talented juniors.
“The main focus is getting the right piece of willow for the customer and their needs. Some players want a bat to last a couple of seasons while others expect it to last just one season. It is what feels right for each player. We love our work and we want customers to feel the same about our work.”
Some customers will visit the showroom where, alongside the all-important bats, there is an extensive range of equipment from footwear to cricket pads, stumps, balls and headgear.
The Bat Garage is another service which offers servicing and repairs. This includes weight reduction, toe inserts, re-edging, new handles, pre-season preparation and a knocking in service for new bats which includes oiling, hand-hammering, repressing and pro-face fitted.
The revamp of the website means customers can buy online or use Skype to talk direct to the sales team.
Rob said: “Our website means people can buy from the comfort of their own home, but we hope that they still get the same excellent service. We aim to continue growing but do not want to lose what has made us special and that is giving each customer our experienced time and patience.”
