Put a visit in your diary

IT might be tucked away in the fantastic village of Slipton, but the Samuel Pepys is well worth going out of your way to visit.

The family-run country pub and restaurant situated has two bar areas offering a great selection of drinks including some local brands, and then there’s the bar area or the conservatory restaurant for those looking for a bite to eat.

All the food at the Samuel Pepys is freshly prepared, using local ingredients where possible, and is available at lunchtime and in the evenings as well as afternoon teas and traditional Sunday Roast with all trimmings.

In addition to our menu items, The Samuel Pepys also offers daily specials inspired by seasonal ingredients and the weather.

The bar menu includes snacks such as devilled whitebait and marinated olives, while the lunch selection ranges from light bits such as goat cheese salad to rump steak, scampi or bangers and mash.

For dinner, the main dishes include regulars sea bass and lamb with saute potatoes, green beans and the chef’s special sauce, alongside the seasonal specials. Recent specials include linguini pasta with artichoke hearts, courgette puree and capers and treacle cured roast beef with Yorkshire puddings and duck fat roasties.

When the weather is fine, the beautiful gardens are an ideal spot for a drink or a meal, while the car park has space for 40 vehicles.

Allergies and special diets can be accommodated and children’s portions of any of the main dishes are available for just £6.
