Record year of growth

THE much talked about uncertainty surrounding Brexit and its possible impacts on supply chains have not dented the continued expansion of Brackmills-based international logistics services provider Dachser.

During the first half of 2018, sales turnover is up by more than 11 per cent, and European export business in particular is booming.

“We are despatching over 1,000 shipments from the UK to Europe each working day, and the numbers are growing steadily,” said Nick Lowe, Dachser’s UK Managing Director. “This positive trend, along with continued growth in our contract logistics business and value-added services on behalf of new and existing customers, has so far ensured another record year of growth for us.”

Dachser UK benefits from its strong connections to its long-established and comprehensive European road freight network, enabling daily departures and time-defined services to destinations across the EU and beyond. Increasingly, customers are also taking advantage of the Company’s multi-modal offerings and supply chain management services, with air and sea freight, UK distribution, procurement logistics and customs services all available within Dachser’s portfolio.

After more than 17 years at the helm, Nick Lowe is taking early retirement from Dachser at the end of September to pursue other interests. His successor, Mark Rollinson, who has formerly held senior director positions at Schenker and Allport Cargo Services, began a three-month induction and hand-over process in July.

“I’m delighted to be joining Dachser at this time, having witnessed from an external viewpoint the organisation’s successful development and growth in the UK over many years,” said Mark. “I do see an enormous potential for further growth and the introduction and implementation of an ever-wider range of logistics services in the future.”

Mark and Nick agree that Brexit, whilst initially having the possibility of creating short-term supply chain disruption depending on what evolves over the next few months, will also present new horizons and opportunities that a company such as Dachser is well-positioned to embrace.

Mark Rollinson sums up Dachser’s outlook for the future: “Irrespective of the prevailing trade, economic and political contexts we may be faced with, we will continue to support and add value to our customers’ supply chains. At the same time, we will maintain the high levels of service reliability and quality that our customers have come to expect.”
