HAVING only moved in a few months ago, the company that has taken over one of Northampton’s best know business locations is already breathing new life into the site.
Wrights of Northampton not only offers a range of services itself, including self-storage, vehicle hire and a commercial vehicle workshop, but has also introduced a number of additional firms to its Cogenhoe site, from Transport companies, mini-bus rental companies to Homecare Specialists.
For many years, the Old Station Yard site was home to W Wright and Sons, a well-known vehicle hire firm that went into administration earlier this year. Previous tenant Richard Sharpe of G & R Distribution, took over the running of the site with business partner Gavin Greatorex, launching Wrights of Northampton, covering Wrights Hire, Wrights Storage and Wrights Commercials.
“I’ve been associated with the site for many years, I rented office space here 25 years ago, and then nearly two years ago I returned, only to get the opportunity to take over the site earlier this year,” said Richard Sharpe.
“We started operating at the beginning of April, under the name Wrights of Northampton because the name is synonymous with this site.”
Wrights Hire offers a selection of vans for self-drive purposes, from small vans to 7.5 tonnes and most things in between. A personal booking service and 24-hour support means customers enjoy the peace of mind of knowing advice and assistance is always available.
Wrights Commercials operates from a 5,000 sq ft garage, meeting the repair and maintenance needs for commercial vans, heavy commercial vehicles, coaches and buses. The well-equipped commercial vehicle workshop can accommodate fleet maintenance, repairs, diagnostics, welding and fabrication work and is able to offer VOSA standard PMI inspections.
Wrights Self Storage comprises 24 storage containers – 22 of which are 20 feet by 8 feet and two 40 feet containers – that can be leased from £80 plus VAT per month for the smaller units and £160 plus VAT for the larger ones.
In addition, space on the site is rented by firms including D&G Greener, G&R Distribution, Moulton Minibuses, Any Time Any Place, and home care providers Personalized Home Care, either in terms of office space or vehicle parking spaces.
Richard Sharpe said: “It’s become something of a business park in its own right, with 10 businesses having a presence here, making good use of the space available.
“The self-storage is very busy, with firms and individuals using the containers for many different things”
