THERE’S a certain skill in selecting a valuable product everyone needs, but no one wants to use, and that skill is in abundance at Astute Insurance, now established as one of Northampton’s leading insurance firms.

Founded in 2009 when many companies, including Astute itself, knew that belts had to be tightened and casual spend was, temporarily at least, a thing of the past, Astute has steadily built a reputation for bespoke programmes that deliver value and peace of mind.

Evidence that the recovery is well under way can be seen in Astute’s growing client base, staff numbers and now larger offices, still in its former home, Mobbs Miller House. The arrival of Account Executive Nathan Connelly earlier this year will offer support to directors Ian Mahony and Andy Baggott, and brings the local office team to eight full-time members of staff.

Managing Director, Ian Mahony, said: “We’ve grown year on year since we formed six years ago, despite the difficult financial climate in the early years we have really established our position in the local insurance market.

“Our experienced commercial team continue to amaze us, a truly customer friendly highly resourced group of professionals with a strong emphasis on business development. It leaves us excited about the future and confident the company will continue to grow”

Astute offers business insurance to a client base that is predominantly larger SMEs, each enjoying the expert advice of a highly skilled team and a tailored programme that ensures all their needs are met. Astute include risk management advice in its core services – helping businesses not only find the right insurance, but to identify ways in which to minimise risk, so often needing to buy less insurance as a result.

Ian Mahony added: “The only way we can really get the best programme in place for our clients is by learning how they run their business. No two businesses are the same and we make it our business to understand what their business is all about and advise accordingly.

“No one enjoys paying for their insurance, but the knowledge that you have considered the risks you face and put an appropriate program in place to protect your balance sheet is a trait of a successful business entrepreneur. That’s why our clients like the fact that they can put everything in our hands and trust us to assess what they need, explain to them why they need it and then come up a solution that works.

“No one wants to claim on their insurance. It invariably means something has gone wrong. Astute clients can access the services of an independent loss adjustor who will help them with larger or complex issues, removing stress at what is inevitably a difficult and busy time for the client.

“By encouraging clients to have serious conversations to plan for such eventualities, we can help ensure that should disaster strike – a fire, for instance – they can be up and running in alternative accommodation as soon as possible, minimising disruption.”
