Forever growing stronger

SOMETIMES growth is plain to see – and sometimes it’s less obvious but just as important to the efficiency and success of a company and its ability to deliver excellent customer service.

Over the past few years Midshires Electrical and Lighting has expanded its physical presence on the Crow Lane Industrial Estate – starting in Unit 3 and gradually adding Units 4, 5 and, most recently, 6 as the company grew.

The firm provides lighting and electrical products for a wide range of projects for construction and housebuilding firms, retailers and schools across the UK, offering anything from individual items sold over its busy trade counter to full lighting system project management where required.

More recently, the firm has branched out into smart home automation products for heating, lighting and security, stocking the technology that can be controlled with a smart phone from anywhere in the world.

Less obvious is Midshires investment in people – Steve Clark joined recently as Warehouse Manager and the firm is currently looking to expand its eCommerce and Digital Marketing team.

In addition, Midshires has also introduced a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software system. This essentially allows an organisation to use a system of integrated applications to manage the business and automate many back-office functions related to technology, services and human resources.

Ultimately, Midshires will be able to streamline its processes, giving the following benefits to the customer:

* Fast, accurate quotations and deliveries due to optimised stock management

* Accurate up-to-date buying history allowing customers to repeat order faster

* Improved security and regulatory compliance to ensure all customer data is kept safe?

*Integration of the new software with the website www.midselec.co.uk which will allow orders to be picked, dispatched and delivered with tracking information without manual intervention / human input.

* Less margin for human error and happier customers as we strive to reduce delivery turnaround times

* Accurate up-to-date stock levels so when customers buy they can be assured that the item is in stock and ready to ship?

Managing Director, Ben Fountain, said: “Investment is important to us to keep us moving in the right direction, whether that is increasing our warehouse and storage space, upgrading the trade counter, or bringing in the people and processes that ensure customers get the level of service they expect.

“Our aim is to become the UK’s leading independent electrical wholesaler – approachable, flexible and ready to respond to customers’ needs – and to be the best we have to invest in the best.”

Together we’re stronger, together we’re Midshires
