MOULTON College is delighted to launch an exciting new course which will support adults who wish to return to education.
Specifically tailored for those progressing into a land-based career, this Access Course is aimed at adults who may have been out of education for a while, perhaps raising a family, working or travelling. The course provides an opportunity for those who want to return to education after previously deciding it wasn’t for them.
Mark Edwards, Head of Higher Education at Moulton College said: “So many adults can feel discouraged from returning to education after time away from the sector. This course addresses that, offering a fantastic opportunity for adult learners to transition smoothly into a supportive and inclusive teaching and learning environment.”
The Higher Education provision at Moulton College is growing, and this is set to continue. The college boasts a dedicated Higher Education Learning centre, and extensive facilities including, among other things, an Animal Welfare Centre, an Equine Centre, and its own farm as well as links to many external animal collections.
Kerry Munn, first year BSc Zoology student describes what led her to a degree at Moulton: “I’d spent 36 years in the NHS as a midwife, and was looking for a change. I’ve always had a passion for animal welfare, and this degree ticks all the right boxes. I was very apprehensive about going back into education, and it’s been the best thing I could have done. It’s been such a huge learning curve, working in a great atmosphere, with brilliant facilities. I would encourage adults of all ages to take the plunge – you won’t be disappointed!”
Moulton College is particularly proud of the one-to-one support it can offer its HE students, with smaller class sizes, and the ability to work closely with specialist lecturers.
Mark added: “Our HE department is a close knit community, and this has strengthened relationships among students and staff. Having smaller class sizes is a huge draw, and means that we can dedicate time to each individual, which is hugely beneficial for their learning.”
In order to complete the Access Course, students must study a set of mandatory units, plus two optional units. At the end of one year, successful students are awarded their Access to HE Diploma – a nationally recognised qualification, accepted at all UK universities.
