THE Briggs & Forrester Group is a leading player in the building services industry. Established in Northampton in 1947, the group has been successfully trading for over 70 years, and is one of the UK’s largest independent mechanical and electrical contractors.
Briggs & Forrester was formed as a heating and engineering design firm, taking on jobs in and around Northampton. The business has grown from a modest heating and engineering company to a national player with 10 regional offices across the UK. Briggs & Forrester has over 900 employees, just under a third of which are based at the head office in Kingsthorpe.
As a group, Briggs & Forrester focuses on new, up and coming talent, from promoting opportunities at school and college career events to the recruitment of technical and craft apprentices across the company. Briggs & Forrester is recognised within the construction industry for its training standards and aims to encourage more young people into the industry.
The group employs a large number of technical trainees and apprentices, who embark on a structured training scheme, experiencing all aspects of the business and gaining formal qualifications. An important element of the training is the opportunity to gain experience on live construction projects. Many of the group’s trainees have successfully developed their careers and now hold senior positions within the company.
