AS it prepares to increase its warehouse and office space by half as much again, things are looking bright for Midshires Electrical and Lighting. The Crow Lane firm will expand into a neighbouring unit in Hartburn Close later this year, reflecting its continued growth. Now employing a team of nearly 30 people, the lighting and electrical products company works across the UK and in a whole range of sectors with clients ranging from small electrical firms calling in at the busy trade counter to large construction and housebuilding firms, retailers and schools. In order to ensure customers achieve the best outcome, Midshires have grown its external sales team to four and continues to develop strong business relationships and maintain steady growth in line with the recent expansion and success of the company. There’s also a six-strong internal sales team and a two man projects team consisting of a Lighting Design Quotation Manager for those looking for expertise in lighting for all types of applications. Within the stores, warehouse and trade counter, there’s further expertise on offer to those calling in or dropping by to collect items, with advice and guidance available on new and suitable products. An apprenticeship scheme ensures that young employees get a good grounding in all aspects of the business, as well as recognised qualifications. Managing Director Ben Fountain said: “We are growing and expanding because we have put the right processes and the right people in place to make sure our customers get the right products for them. “Not long ago, if someone called here they would speak to someone who was knowledgeable about our products, but it would be the same person whether they were calling about a small amount of lighting, or a major project to install thousands of pounds worth of new lighting system. “We decided to address that by creating a specialist sales team that work with on the larger projects, passing on their expertise gained from working closely with manufacturers, and understanding what works best in a given situation. “It won’t be the cheapest option – we don’t always stock the cheapest option because they are products we don’t believe in – but it will be the best for the client, and offer the best possible return on investment in terms of energy savings and, therefore, cost savings. “We’ve worked particularly hard to build up relationships with the main contractors of major housebuilders –There’s a lot of building going on in Northamptonshire & the surrounding counties at the moment – where contractors are fitting out all types of residential homes, these may be 1 bed apartments or standalone luxury houses, all are fitted with variants of lighting and electrical accessories they need to be energy efficient, look aesthetically pleasing, as well as being of decent trade quality.” Heating, ventilation, lighting, cable management, electrical accessories, and distribution are all specialist areas that Midshires supplies to the trade and the public.
