Enhancing people’s lives

GOODRICH Consulting LLP are project managers and quantity surveyors on another multi-room development within the retirement living sector. The scheme includes a 70-bed care home and 11 separate extra-care apartments in Shipston-on-Stour.

The main features of the care home include a lovely cinema room, fine dining area, a spacious bar and activity room where knitting, arts and crafts will take place. Residents at the care home will also have an external raised terrace area for extra space. With space in mind, bedroom sizes are ranging from 18 to 23 square metres, which was included for the comfort and well-being of the residents.

This will be the first development for Taylor and Taylor’s Healthcare and Goodrich have been instrumental in providing guidance and maximising the value of the development alongside the client. Taylor and Taylor’s initially acquired the site with a planning approval.

Goodrich have worked very closely with local authority, design team and client to amend the planning approval, making the development bespoke to the client’s needs. Furthermore, Goodrich completed an extensive value management review and generated savings in excess of £800,000 off the build cost.

The site covers approximately 0.73 hectares and was previously used as an engineering and manufacturing facility. The build period is 62 weeks with two weeks of fit out included, and completion is targeted for early 2019.

Paul Riley, Partner at Goodrich Consulting said: “Working with Taylor and Taylor on this scheme has been a real pleasure, we have saved money on the build, which has been pumped directly back into enhancements like sprinkler protection and an improving the already high standard of fit out, furniture and other facilities. For the Taylors, it’s all about enhancing the lives of their residents, families and staff.”

Goodrich Consulting are looking forward to further projects with the Taylors as they look to expand their estate further.
