New units will bring logistics space

THE construction of two brand new, state-of-the-art, industrial buildings has started on site at Northampton Commercial Park. Global integrated property group, Goodman, is developing the two units, of 303,824 and 161,709 sq ft, on a speculative basis to capitalise on the need for prime logistics space in the region. The development represents a significant investment for the local area and will stimulate local job creation.

Both units are due to complete in February 2016 and, once complete, the units will have the capacity to accommodate up to 500 employees. Nigel Dolan, Development Director, Goodman UK Logistics, said: “There is a distinct lack of prime logistics space in the Northampton area, and indeed the wider East Midlands region. We’re delighted to be starting work on these two units, which are being built on this key site in Northamptonshire. This development is bringing much needed distribution and logistics space, with strong sustainability credentials, to the market. “The continued development of Northampton Commercial Park is great news for the region, as it will give local companies the opportunity to expand, while also attracting inward investment from businesses across the UK. We anticipate there will be strong demand for the finished units and encourage interested businesses to get in touch. “Goodman has a proven track record of managing the delivery of prime developments and we look forward to seeing the units at Northampton Commercial Park through to successful completion in early 2016.” Goodman has 17 strategically located sites across the UK, capable of delivering over 16.5 million sq ft. Each of these sites offers exceptional access to key transport hubs, including motorway interchanges, ports and airports. In 2015 Goodman will develop 1.7 million sq ft of speculative space throughout the UK in 13 units across six schemes. Jones Long LaSalle and Lambert Smith Hampton have been appointed as leasing agents for the two units at Northampton Commercial Park.
