Appealing to commuters

WELLINGBOROUGH is fast becoming a popular destination for London first-time buyers looking for a more affordable place to call home.

Research by London-based estate agents Hamptons International has shown that four out of ten London-based first-time buyers are choosing to purchase a home outside of the capital.

The trend is already being seen in towns such as Wellingborough, which have quick commuter links into the city yet are a much more affordable option than London in terms of house prices. The Hamptons study shows that last year 12 per cent of all house sales in the borough were to London first-time buyers.

Housebuilder Bellway is helping to meet the demand for new housing in the town at its new development, The Beeches at Stanton Cross, where there’s currently a range of houses available and apartments coming soon.

Sales Manager for Bellway Northern Home Counties, Shirley Macleod, said: “It is becoming harder and harder for young people to be able to afford their own home in London, and places like Wellingborough with accessible transport links are becoming an ideal alternative.

“The Beeches at Stanton Cross is in a brilliant location for those who commute to London every day, with easy access to Wellingborough railway station and direct trains to London St Pancras in less than an hour. It’s also convenient for those travelling by car, with the A45 close by for the A14, A1 and M1.

“Buyers here can really enjoy the best of both worlds, with quick links into the city for work, but a more relaxed and peaceful way of life when they come home at the end of the day.”

Stanton Cross is a major mixed-use development set to deliver a wide range of new homes, employment areas and shopping facilities, together with direct access to Wellingborough railway station.

The development includes shops, schools, commercial space, a town park and community centre. Major improvements to roads and public transport will also take place.

The residential areas at Stanton Cross are divided into five distinct phases, each with their own unique character. The inaugural phase, Ise Valley View, plays host to The Beeches. Positioned at the heart of Stanton Cross, Ise Valley View overlooks the River Ise and the town of Wellingborough and is close to the neighbourhood centre which will be home to shops, restaurants and leisure facilities.

The Beeches at Stanton Cross comprises two, three, four and five-bedroom properties, with three-bedroom houses currently available from £254,995.
