In line with new regulations

FORMATION of the Accrediting Bodies Association Workplace Transport (ABA) 2012 has seen a number of changes within the industry of late.

Outsourced training on fork lift trucks and mechanical handling equipment should be delivered by a training organisation accredited to one of the four major accrediting organisations: ITSSAR, RTITB, AITT and NPORS.

At Phoenix Training all instruction on fork lift trucks and mechanical handling equipment is accredited by ITSSAR, giving clients peace of mind that their operators are suitably trained and fully compliant to nationally recognised standards.

Each of the accrediting bodies now has in place their own operator registration scheme, meaning that training delivered by an accredited provider can be easily validated.

Emma Williams, Managing Director of the Wellingborough firm, said: “The new registration scheme is now in force, although RTITB have had their scheme in place for many years, and employers are strongly advised to make sure that any training company they bring in to train their workers is properly accredited. When they use Phoenix, they are secure in the knowledge that we are fully accredited and their fork lift operators will meet the accrediting body’s requirements once they have completed their training.”

Emma, who bought Phoenix Training five years ago after working for the company for 10 years before that is delighted with the way things are going at the Park Farm Industrial Estate firm.

Fork lift and mechanical handling equipment training courses are at the core of the Phoenix Training operation and, having its own training centre, based at Park Farm Industrial Estate in Wellingborough, is a huge benefit to a number of customers.

The centre offers instructor training courses as well as courses in health and safety and emergency first aid at work.

“Last year was our best trading year since I took over and the early indications are that this year is going to be even better,” said Emma. “We are growing steadily and provide a complete portfolio of mechanical handling and fork lift training to clients all over the region.”
