Second quarter is speeding up

WATSON & Cox of Northamptonshire are heading into Q2 of their 48th year of business with opportunities that will further enhance and present the business against their mantra of ‘Commitment to Excellence’.

Q1 of 2019 came with challenges, with project funding relapsing due to the dreaded ‘B’ word. However, with a service and product which delivers confidence and turnkey solutions Watson & Cox have a future workbook of opportunities that suits their requirements. Current projects of affordable housing, flats, large office refurbishment and a new Sixth Form bock in Luton are showcasing some of the company deliverables into the construction market.

The business has taken decisions to fine tune the construction solutions and place personnel into key areas. Matthew Kemshed has recently joined the company as the Senior QS and replaces Richard Westcott, who retired last year after 19 years with Watson & Cox. The core team of project managers, foremen, accounting team and site personnel have been continuously invested in to ensure Watson & Cox lives live up to their high standards and completion dates. The firm recently completed a round of occupational health checks of the team to help personnel identify any potential health issues and advise on lifestyle choices.

Darren Wallace & Rebekah Cooper have been spreading the construction ‘word’ by delivering presentations to Kingsthorpe College. Darren is Construction Director and he has a keenness to offer advice to the future leaders of the construction sector. He is keen for the sector to lose the stigma associated with certain professions and highlight where business like Watson & Cox can develop key skills to eventually become business leaders.

Matthew Abraham, Business/Building Services Manager, who joined in October 2017, has seen the progression of business especially in adapting the offering to be tailor made for their current and potential clients.

“We have been focusing on client needs and in my role that focus has been on ensuring the M&E elements of the design suites the end user and also commercially works,” he said.

Assisting developers and end users from very early doors has been a success for Watson & Cox but more importantly the end users both commercially and functionality of the product.

The B word makes the industry future unknown, but Watson & Cox have ensured success through its team and ethos.
