Award-winning pub meets expectations

AWARDS bring high expectations and the team at the village pub, The Stag’s Head in Great Doddington, know how important it is to continue to make the right impression.

There is a warm welcome all day, every day at the independently run pub and restaurant.

It is 26 years since Gerry and Bob Rendle took on the venue and they are supported by a loyal team headed up by Licensee and General Manager Kelly Rendle.

The team includes Head Chef Glenn Shelswell, who has been working at The Stag’s Head for 25 years, backed up by Chef Len King, who has 19 years’ service.

The Stag’s Head serves high-quality food seven days a week, including three roasts on a Sunday, plus their full menu and specials of the day. This is available all day on Sundays from 12 noon to 8pm giving customers another excellent reason to visit. A few dishes from the menu are garlic tiger prawns in a hot sizzling garlic sauce, garlic crumbed Camembert wedges, extra mature fillet steak, Gressingham duck served with a tangy orange marmalade sauce and, of course, Chef’s renowned steak pie, to name but a few.

The Stag’s Head has a 48-seater beamed restaurant, 24-seater cellar restaurant area, perfect for those family or party get togethers, a large lounge bar and a separate garden bar area (which is dog friendly) and leads out to an attractive enclosed garden area. All areas are suitable for private parties.

The varied menu, which is enhanced by specials, is reviewed on a daily basis, there are also gluten and dairy-free menus available on request and The Stag’s Head team pride themselves on catering for special occasions including birthdays, anniversaries, christenings, wakes and business meetings. Various other menus are available on request, including options for buffets, party menus, set menus, snack menu or a bespoke menu for the extra special occasion.

The Stag’s Head is open all day, every day and aims to provide customers with great quality home-cooked food from a varied menu and first-class service in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, leaving customers wanting to return.
