TAKE a moment to consider the immense experience of wine specialist Rodney Hogg before giving in to temptation to simply grab the nearest bottle of Chardonnay or Merlot.

The next drop-in walk around Annual Spring Wine Tasting in Oundle is on Friday 19 May from 5pm to 9pm. There is no charge but advanced booking is essential.
He said: “It doesn’t matter if you are a wine buff or a wine novice – this is an opportunity to taste wines in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and discover alternatives. For example, people may like a Shiraz but although it is the same grape it has a completely different taste if it comes from the northern or southern hemisphere.”
Rodney is also busy sharing his extensive knowledge with venues and event organisers. Food and spice can affect a wine’s taste and Rodney can suggest options to suit menus.
“I like to think of wine in the same way as a favourite piece of music. It depends on your mood and it can bring back such good memories,” he said.
