No longer such a secret

WORD is getting out about one of Northampton’s best-kept secrets – an award-winning pub that offers excellent food and a well-stocked bar.

The Bold Dragoon in Weston Favell has always been popular – borne out by its winning of the Pub of the Year award at last year’s SME Northamptonshire Business Awards, which was decided on a public vote.

Since then, the pub has been busier than ever, with bookings for the cosy dining areas on the up and the bar as lively as ever. A new spring menu has just been introduced and, should we get some warmer weather, the patio area is being prepared for the long hot summer we’re all waiting for.

Peter Stubbins, Manager of the pub, said: “I’ve said for some time that we’re one of the area’s best-kept secrets and think of ourselves as a country pub in the middle of town. It’s a traditional pub with an excellent menu and a great bar, but our position meant that people didn’t really know about us.

“The SME Northamptonshire Business Awards changed that, and since the award was announced last October we’ve been busier than ever. We think people will enjoy our new spring and summer menu, and that those who still don’t know what we’re all about will be tempted to come along and try it for themselves.”

The Bold Dragoon has a lively bar, comfortable lounge and a well-used games room and customers can choose from a range of attractive bar snacks or the full a la carte menu while enjoying a good selection of beers, wines and spirits. Over the past couple of years, Peter has focused on the cellar offerings and has introduced a host of real ales and speciality beers.

The Bold Dragoon, at 48 High Street, Weston Favell, Northampton, is open from noon to 11pm every day, serving food from noon to 2.30pm and 6pm to 9pm Monday to Saturday and from noon to 5pm on Sunday. For more information or to book call 01604 401221.
