A record-breaking year

BOOSTED by a record-breaking run-up to Christmas, Hitec Lift Trucks in Wellingborough is very much geared up for an exciting and challenging 2017.

The rise in online retailing, which has brought with it an increase in distribution centres across our region, has led to a greater than ever demand for casual hire fork lift trucks from Hitec.

Managing Director, Prospero Girardi, said: “We always see an increase in casual hire in December, when online retailers are working hard to cope with Christmas orders and need extra staff and equipment, but 2016 was a record-breaking year for that. The face of retailing is changing and the logistics sector is finding that it’s the pick-and-pack side of the business that is under increasing pressure, and we are ready to respond to that.”

The online retailing boom has seen new distribution centres being built across Northamptonshire, which is a key logistics area given its position in the centre of the country and with its excellent road and rail links.

In response to this, Hitec Lift Trucks has found a growing demand from contractors working to fit-out the giant sheds once they’re close to hand-over.

“Our clients are mainly those who are fitting racking and shelving into these big warehouses, or putting in mezzanine floors once the building itself is complete,” said Prospero. “This growing market has meant that things are very positive for us at the moment and we’re very much looking forward to a busy 2017.

“All this is in addition to our regular work as one of the leading CESAB dealerships in the UK, providing clients across the region with equipment for sale and hire, on short and long-term agreements. We’ve added a new lorry to the fleet to cope with the increased demand for delivery of equipment, from our core fork lifts and access platforms to products that meet the needs of more niche markets.”
