Exciting year ahead

TEN years after it was launched in Northamptonshire, the Business Club Northants is looking forward to 2018 with the original club still flourishing and a new one steadily building its membership.

Since 2007, the Business Club Northants has given hundreds of people the opportunity to meet, make deals, give and receive advice and enjoy the company of others in the same business circles.

Its success was marked in October when the club took the SME Northamptonshire Business Awards Networking Group of the Year award for the second year running.

Now, the Business Club Bucks has been added to the fold, gaining members steadily since it launched in the summer and already benefiting from the networking, training and member offers that are part of membership.

Mike Willis, CEO, said: “I’m very proud of what The Business Club Northants has achieved. We aim to have a bit of a laugh and the meetings are relatively relaxed, but we’ve never lost sight of the fact that the most important thing is that people get the chance to form strategic business alliances and work with one another.

“There’s no way of quantifying the amount of business that has been done between members, but it gives me so much satisfaction to see two people shaking hands at a meeting, having realised they can work together.”

The Business Club Northants holds three meetings in different parts of the county each month. In addition, monthly induction training sessions are held at which Mike covers the basics of networking and how to get the most from membership, passing on some of his knowledge of sales and growing a business.

The Business Club Bucks meets at the Novotel in Milton Keynes for networking meetings.

Mike added: “We’ve just enjoyed our 10-year Gala Dinner Dance, which was a massive success and we’re looking forward to more exciting developments in 2018, bringing people together to network in a relaxed, social setting.

“My philosophy is that you can have fun and do business at the same time and I think people like that. I look round the room and see people laughing and having a good time and that’s a good feeling.”
